When should I call Old West Moving Assistance?

If you need to move today, we can do it. If you want a written
on-site estimate, you should call us about 3 to 6 weeks
before your move. Please contact us as soon as you decide
to move, this way we can prepare your move with more time
and careful planning. You can call us anytime, all our staff is
available and ready to answer all your questions.

What are my responsibilities?

In brief ...

Be present during the packing of your belongings. Take
personal responsibility for jewelry and all other high value
items. Check and sign the inventory of your belongings.
Ensure that No prohibited items are packed.

So what can or can't I take with me?

Dispose of All flammable items, liquids, matches, lighters,
solvents, paint, camping gas, corrosive chemicals, food,
animals, extremely fragile items and others that should not be
shipped. Anything that can deteriorate should not be shipped.
If you have a question about an item you´re not sure about
moving, just call and ask.

How long should my move take?

Experience has shown us that an average 1 bedroom
apartment takes 2-3 hours to load/unload. A 2 bedroom
apartment takes 3-4 hours to load/unload. A 3 bedroom
home takes 5-6 hours to load/unload. A 4+ bedroom home
takes 7-10 hours to load/unload. Unloading normally takes
half the amount of time that loading your truck did. This varies
depending on a number of things such as the amount of items
you have, organization, and a number of other things. A
household with uniform sized boxes will fit into a truck much
faster than a household with dozens of different size boxes.

situation.

Anything that is definitely a no-go area?

Well, mainly the things you might expect - drugs, alcohol,
weapons, ammunition. Shipping certain high value items or
collections may require you to purchase extra coverage.

Does my furniture have to be empty to move it? YES!

Furniture is not engineered to handle the stress of being
moved while trying to support the weight of items stored
inside. This is the number one cause of damage during
moving.

Suppose I pack myself?

Why not? But be aware of the potential problems. For
instance, valuation coverage will not pay out on goods
packed by their owner, unless the exterior of the box is
damaged.

How am I covered in case of damage?

Your belongings are covered by valuation. On local and
interstate shipments in or out of California,  we provide
valuation coverage of 60 cents per pound per article at no
cost.
